IMF’s Lagarde to undergo criminal investigation (People’s Movement)

A French court has ordered an investigation into the new managing director of the International Monetary Fund, Christine Lagarde, to discover whether she was “complicit in the misuse of public funds” for approving a legal settlement of €400 million to the controversial businessman Bernard Tapie in 2008 when she was minister of economic affairs.

The charge could carry a fine of up to €150,000 and a ten-year prison sentence
